Nasal Cannula COPD patients – comfortable oxygen delivery for everyday use

Long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) explained simply

COPD and other chronic lung diseases mean that the body is no longer supplied with sufficient oxygen.
Long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) can help to stabilize the oxygen content in the blood permanently – usually via oxygen glasses that are worn day and night.

For this therapy to be effective, it must be comfortable and suitable for everyday use. This is where choosing the right glasses comes into play.

Why the difference between nasal and mouth breathing is important

Many COPD patients breathe not only through their nose, but often also through their mouth—especially when sleeping or under stress.
Classic Nasal Cannulas deliver oxygen exclusively via nasal prongs.
This can result in less oxygen being absorbed when breathing through the mouth.

In addition, many patients report dry, irritated nasal mucous membranes due to the constant airflow in the nose.

When are nose/mouth glasses helpful?

A nasal/mouth mask (naso-oral interface) is designed so that the oxygen exits in front of the mouth and nose—as a gentle "oxygen cloud."
This allows the oxygen supply to be maintained even when breathing through the mouth.

This type of interface can support

  • if traditional Nasal Cannulas are Nasal Cannulas uncomfortable,

  • when breathing through the mouth at night (e.g., with snoring),

  • or if mucous membrane irritation and dryness occur.

NasalOxy® – Alternative to traditional oxygen nasal cannulas

NasalOxy® is a low-flow nasal/mouth cannula designed specifically for long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) at home.

Technical concept:

  • Oxygen escapes above the upper lip and forms an oxygen cloud in front of the mouth and nose.

  • No insertion into the nose → less irritation of the mucous membrane

  • Suitable for 0–5 L/min (low flow)

  • 210 cm hose length for freedom of movement

  • CE-compliant medical device

Goal: to make everyday life more comfortable with oxygen therapy – designed to provide reliable care for nasal and mouth breathing.
